Expressway [INI-9200U/UW] PCI to Dual Channel Ultra/UltraWide SCSI Host Adapter
I/OEXPRESSWAY, a PCI Dual-channel Ultra/UltraWide SCSI bus master host adapter, delivers the performance and connectivity required for servers and leading-edge applications. On a single PCI slot, connecting up to 30 UltraWide SCSI* or up to 14 Ultra SCSI* devices, I/OEXPRESSWAY delivers up to four times the transfer rate of the single-channel SCSI-2 boards.
I/OEXPRESSWAY supports the latest UltraSCSI and UltraWide SCSI standards, transferring data at up to 40 MBytes/second per independent channel, and takes advantage of the 133 MBytes/second burst rate of the PCI bus to provide superb I/O performance. It also supports all popular network operating systems including NetWare and Windows NT. Support for DOS and Windows is built into the intelligence of I/OEXPRESSWAY.
While I/OEXPRESSWAY host adapters are capable of keeping pace with the most demanding applications, they offer complete compatibility with your existing SCSI peripherals. You can combine up to thirty SCSI-1, SCSI-2, SCSI-3, or UltraSCSI peripherals for optimum performance and value in I/O demanding applications such as CD-ROM servers, multi-media production, and video editing systems.
I/O EXPRESSWAY features SmartSCSITM, a user-friendly, BIOS-resident setup utility that allows the user extreme control to boot from any channel, as well as individual device configuration and host adapter termination, all via the keyboard. Easi-Install makes your SCSI software installation under DOS and Windows simple and painless.
I/OEXPRESSWAY includes both auto-configuration and auto-termination for Plug-and-Play installations in PCI based systems. I/OEXPRESSWAY host adapters will run in Intel compatible PCI systems.
Features
- Two independent channels to double the data transfer rates
- Utilizing the power of the Initio INIC-950 PCI-UltraSCSI RISC processor, the INI-9200U and INI-9200UW doubles the overall SCSI throughput and bandwidth resulting in better host CPU utilization.
- Ability to separate slower legacy devices from the UltraSCSI screamers:
- Separating SCSI devices such as scanners, tape and magneto-optical drives from your UltraWide SCSI hard disks allows for more efficient utilization of the SCSI bus and better overall system performance.
- Dual-channel support for up to 30 UltraWide or 14 UltraSCSI drives:
- Combining up to 30 UltraWide or 14 UltraSCSI peripherals, INI-9200U/UW delivers more connectivity compared to single-channel adapters without sacrificing performance.
- Full backward compatibility with existing SCSI devices
- In addition to supporting the latest SCSI standard, the INI-9200U/UW is fully backward compatible with your existing SCSI devices.
- Ability to boot from any SCSI channel
- With I/OEXPRESSWAY, you are no longer limited to booting from a single SCSI channel. You can combine up to thirty bootable devices on any channel at any SCSI ID
- Save a valuable PCI slot
- By supporting multiple UltraSCSI channels through a single PCI slot, INI-9200 frees up a valuable PCI slot for other system resources.
